What are the minimum requirements to apply?

You must have a Bachelor's degree in Education or your teaching subject, minimum two years of full-time teaching experience after earning your degree, English language fluency (B2 level or higher), and a valid driver's license. You must be currently employed as a full-time educator and cannot be a U.S. resident.

How long can I teach in the United States?

Global Educators can stay in the U.S. on their J-1 Visa for three years with a possible two-year extension, for a maximum of five years. The J-1 is a cultural exchange visa, so educators return home afterward to share their experiences.

What salary can I expect as a Global Educator?

Global Educators are paid on the same salary scale as U.S. teachers, typically earning $3,600-$6,155 monthly (before taxes) based on education level, years of experience, and school district. J-1  educators are eligible for the same benefits as American counterparts.

Are there any program fees I need to pay?

Global Teaching Partners charges $0 application fee, $0 sponsor fee, and $0 third-party fees. You will need to pay for your J-1 visa application, state teaching license, and credential evaluation. We provide detailed cost breakdowns upfront and recommend bringing $3,500 for initial relocation expenses.

Can my spouse and children come with me?

Yes! Legally-married spouses and children under 21 can join you on J-2 dependent visas. You are responsible for their flight costs and living expenses. J-2 spouses may apply for work authorization if desired.

Where will I be teaching?

Global Teaching Partners primarily places educators in school districts throughout North Carolina, near our headquarters in Research Triangle Park. We also have limited placements in South Carolina and Virginia. Strategic placement ensures you receive consistent, accessible support.

What support do I receive once I arrive?

You'll receive comprehensive support including: Educator Success Coaches who visit your school regularly; Transitional Advisors who help with daily living needs; Global Champions peer mentors from your home country; professional development through TalentLMS; and housing coordination assistance.

Do I need to purchase a car in the U.S.?

Yes, all Global Educators must have access to reliable transportation. Our partner school districts are located in areas with limited public transportation, and independent mobility is essential for daily living and emergencies.
